What are some of America's original artforms?

Animation and Jazz music. The artistic community largely attributes these to be the two only truely original artforms to come from America. Pretty bold statement to claim. Today jazz has become a highly developed artform that is neglected. Today animation is a very popular medium that is in arrested development. Its only for kids or the sitcom crowd. What should we choose as our new art since these two aren't cutting it?

Cinema is also an American art form, though to tell the truth Hollywood's early films were fairly awful.

Blues is an original American art form.

As for animation, I can't quite agree with you. "Shrek" was an absolutely wonderful comedy suitable for people of all ages. King Kong was an animated figure, as were the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park.
