Moreover, Québec is the world's largest exporter of aluminium, the world’s second largest producer of niobium and an important producer of iron.

With more than 34,571 megawatts in 2005, Québec is one of the largest hydroelectricity producer in the world. Thanks to the abundance of this hydroelectric resource, large active industries, particularly in the fields of aluminium, magnesium and pulp and paper have established themselves in Québec.

Québec has always been a net exporter of forest products. In 2001, the industry reported total shipments of $18.8 billion, nearly two-thirds of which went for export. The balance of trade surplus in Québec's forest products sector was $10 billion, or 60% of the total surplus for that year.
