What are some of the bad effects of drums on drummers?

...hm, i haven't noticed any myself. why do u ask? are u against them? well, i supose as u mentioned hearing could be affected if u don't use headphones while on stage. personally i muffle mine to other music, so loudness in music doens't affect me any.

it's a musical talent and improves hand-eye cordination. ^-^

Well, yes, being exposed to loud noise (any noise, not just drumming) over a period of time can effect ones ears and possibly cause disorders like tinnitus.  One should be wise and take proper precautions if they know they will be exposed to continuous noise by wearing ear plugs.
