    Setting: Located at Remedios Circle in the heart of Malate, Bistro Remedios is a mecca for local food enthusiasts and toursits in search of authentic filipino food. The restaurant used toe be a traditional home so there's a festive and folksy feel to the place. Tables are well spaced and there's a separate section for smokers.

    Food: The food is Capampangan, which is is arguable the most original and savory of FIlipino cuisine. Most well known of the pica pica (appetizers) are the squid tactics - sliced and quickyl friend squid sprinkled with brown garlic in a sweet and spicy sauce. three entrees alwys ring customers back: firt is the binukadkad na crispy Pla PLa, a spread eagled fried tilapia served with balo balo, a pungent shrimp pate, and fresh mustard leaves. The second is crispy tadyang, which are marinated, deep fried beef ribs, made very crispy and tasty. The third delectable entree is the knockout knuckle, a whole leg of pork deep fried in garlic and chillies. For those seeking more healthful options, Bistro Remedios offers a whole host of steamed or lightly simmered delicacies from the sea.

    Wine: The list is adequate. There are wines from the main wine growing regions. Markups are reasonable, but the bottle condition may be an issue.

    Service: The wait staff know the menu well and consistenyl provide very good service.

    Price: Very reasonably priced. Clearly not a tourist trap.

    Setting: La Cocina de Tita Minong is a dning experience every Filipino should have at least once in theri lifetime. The venue is an equal atraction to this special banquet: the predinner mansion tour ends in the dining hall where a specialy set up dining table with antique silverware and China awaits you.

    Food: The meals served are all from teh turn of the century menu of Tita Minong and yourdinner menu here is prearranged to your liking as an advanced reservation is REQUIRED. House specialty appetisers - shrimp ceviche served in martini glasses and warm queso de bola toasts are first offered in the compound's gardens. Dinner could start with sopa de ajo in demitasse, followed by a fancy plate with three types of salad: fresh kangkong and grilled pepper salad, grilled eggplant salad. A sample main course could be the mini paella valenciana, a signature dish, with roasted fresh vegetables. And as if that isnt' a feast in itself, platters of lengua cooked in white wine are brought to your table with sauteed fresh ubod, brown rice and a side dish of cannalones cups as your second course.

    Wine: There is not formal wine list but should there be a particular wine or champagne you desire, the restuarant will be more than wiling to make it available during your meal.

    Service: The proudly dedicated staff are the same team that have served the legarda family through the years. and are highly trained to attend promptly to their guest's needs.

    Price: Prices are according to your prearranged pleasure of the main course - any choice of which is very reasonable and commensurate with the enchanting experience.

    Setting: MArket Cafe is a cosmopolitan surprise to the distinctive palate. The excellently lit spacious halls are coloured with warm cream tones, maroons and lovely textures, making it very comfortable.

    Food: The restaurant's main treat is the extensive buffet display re-creating a market experience but in tis most sophisticated and cultured form. Its signature dishes include sushi and sashimi, dim sum, oyster bar, wood fired pizzas and pastas, tempura, and the lamb chops

    Wine: The wine selection, together with other drinks is displayed in the chiller strategically located along the hallways. Selection is diverse, classiication is widely ranged. The management recommends the very fruity, very inviting Sutter Home 2004.

    SErvice: we requested a hoice of wine for the salmon dish and were given a quick rundown of the wine selction, ending with a self assured recommendation of a wine that did not disappoint. The market cafe team is highly trained.

    Price:It is a small price to pay for the wine and impeccable service that is as well planned as the dishes.

  2. there are a lot of food hubs in manila...you can try to go to ongpin where chinese food/cuisine is not only delicious but priced in very reasonable prices...if you can afford more upscle-ey and delicious food try going to lolo dad's.food and service are perfect there.

  4. been to the phils more than a dozen time for business and pleasure and by far there are two places that is above the rest. pls try the restaurant at the shangrila and mandarin oriental manila, they both offer tradional asian cuisines with heavy influence from the  chinese and japanese cuisine.. ive seen the mandarin oriental on travel and leisure magazine and conde nast travel, two of the leading magazine for travel worldwide, enjoy your visit there,

  5. I am just a simple person. I can buy food to any fastfood out there in Manila..then go to LUNETA...Just have peaceful dining out there..simple yet wonderful..Is it good?
