Well I dont know what kind of budget you are working with so I will give you the two best options...My favorite place in NYC is called Sophia's and it is located in the Edison Hotel. If you go in the right door you dont have to walk through the hotel. They have the best chocolate moose cake ever. The price of their food is very reasonable and it feels so fancy. The lighting is always wonderful.

If you have a big budget take her to Tavern on the green.

There is a great rest. called AsiadeCuba it is in midtown really fancy and has great food and drinks.

Villa Mosconi Restaurant in Greenwich Village has a classical romantic setting (also phenomenal cuisine) You can check out pics on their website http://www.villamosconi.com

Word to the wise. Don't go to the so called old established places . check out the small places .SOHO has alot of small cozy places with great food.

One that never fails is Serendipity on the upper eastside.

why don't you try Morton's The Steakhouse? they have the best steaks,service,martinis and staffs
