  1. check with chaulks aviation in miami !!   (not sure on spelling)

  2. DeHavilland Beaver or Otter turboprop conversion on Wipeline retractable floats.

  3. Albatross

  4. Depends on the era of aviation you're talking about.  The old Grummans were darn good sea planes, and many of them are still flying and earning a living.

  5. For purpose built sea-plane I would give it to the Catalina.  Although designed for patrol and rescue it also functioned as a bomber on occasion.  It initiated rescue of New Jersey's crew.  But more importantly it had a successful civilian role. It's been used throughout Southeast Asia for crew change and their are two flying with Trubo-prop conversion for an Australian Pearling company.

  6. Depends on what you're going to be using it for,,,offshore salt water or heavy seas would require a Grumman.  On inland lakes/waterways, a good quality Cessna 180/85 on floats is a good choice.  With the smaller planes,,,,do your research very carefully.  Some are lousy airplanes, and flat-out bad boats!
