I am looking at getting a new set of irons. I have around a 15 handicap and I don't want to spend more than $250-$300 on them though. I am more than willing to buy used clubs, but I'm just wondering if anyone has bought a set for about that much that has done well for them. I have talked to some buddies of mine and they have suggested Nike Ignites, and also a few different Callaway models. Any siggestions would be much appreciated.

  1. I would look to non-branded clubs. You pay for advertising etc. on brand names and the average golfer will do well with knock-off clubs.

  2. Golfsmith.com has a section for used clubs, and I've purchased nice clubs through them. Also check for sporting goods resale shops like a Play It Again sports where you can see the clubs. Buying a great set of clubs used is still going to be expensive. I've found that used clubs are only about 25% cheaper than new, so you should be looking for a set that was only $500 when purchased new.

Ebay is ok if you already know what you are looking for.

  3. Wison has good clubs and cheap.

  4. Wilson Di 7 they are a form of a fatshaft they hit really well and have a big sweetspot and they are very forgiving right now on ebay they are going for $300 and if bought at d**k's sporting goods they go for $650.

  5. Check RockBottomGolf.com, they've got a pretty solid selection of new irons for $300 and under. If you find something you like, use coupon code Slick10Off during checkout to take 10% off your order - save you $30 on those $300 irons....

  6. The best place online is www.globalgolf.com  But if you have a Golf Galaxy or Golfdom or Golfsmith around you go there. The used clubs at these stores will be much cheaper than ones you can find online and you even get to hit balls with them. I bought a set 2-PW of Titleist 704-CB for $150 with grips. But I grip my own clubs so it could be about $25 more if you need them to do so. Those clubs are low to mid handicap clubs.

  7. The Bertha's are the way to go with a medium handicap.  Huge sweet spot.  Used around 300

  8. TaylorMade RAC OS2.  Amazing irons, great feel.  Get them on ebay new or used for under $300.  They produce great ball flight and the short irons always land the ball soft on the green

  9. I am a high handicapper also and purchased a set of the Adams Ovation 3 irons on sale from DicksSportingGoods.com for $199 this year. Came with a 4-LW and I'm quite happy. Very forgiving, but give good feedback on mishits as well.
