live at new farm near the water or the valley for city life..or out a bit ennogera..is cheaper..north side is good but the gabba is ok,otherwise go out to wellington point cleveland,redlands cheaper now, west is ipswich ..going ahead but not nice..stay east,manly,maybe

It depends on what you mean by 'not too expensive'. You'll get reasonable flats in the up market western suburbs like Indooroopilly for $270 or so. Anywhere in the western suburbs on the NORTH side of the river is nice - every one of those is up market. Hawthorne in the east about the same price as Indro but the public transport isn't as good over there. If that's too expensive, you'll need to move further out.

Avoid Inala, Woodridge, Oxley, Darra, Redbank and places close to any of those. Most other suburbs are OK but there will be other not so good ones that I don't know about.
