  1. Might contribute to lower childbirth rates of juveniles.  They might be so busy watching tv that they do less dating, etc.

  2. people say it creates more violence like monkey see monkey do, but different people say that we process the television differently and its far to indepth to say over yahoo so go to google and search for a book called sociology first edition by ken browne and you should be able to see sections of the book online and it will tell you. hope that helps.

  3. Beyond the idea of destroying brain cells and affecting eyesight, the programs themselves have a strong influence.

Example: There are many shows that have rude people for a laugh -- rudeness is a step closer to being the norm.  No one likes it directed at them, but it's suddenly funny if someone else is the target.  Sad.

Let's look again.  There are many topics previously unavailable.  Probably due to the influx of CSI-type programs, more people are selecting those types of subjects for study.  There is information on countries and cultures, opportunities some people never thought about. There is a lot of good, too - Discover, History, Science.

And there is a marvelous control - change the channel or turn it off.

Enjoy the good, but do something else. too.  Maybe something inspired by a program.

  4. Brainwashing.  What to fear, what to like, who are your enemies, how you should look, what you should eat, where you should go, how you should look, what you should have, how you should feel about x y and z...and on...and on...and on....until few think for themselves because the tele tells you all.

  5. couch potatoes, brainwashing, obesity and ADHD.

  6. ummm... everything valerie said....
