You can have all of the virtues of Greek philosophy but after many years in the work force and as a consumer of goods and services I've decided the secret is...have a line of **** and no conscience.  Honest guys and gals NEVER get ahead.  Anybody who tells you otherwise is a liar beyond compare!  Just learn all you can, do your best, be honest and sleep well at night but don't think for a minute you'll be wealthy.

Good communication skills (no Mall talk), the ability to get along with people (even those you don't like) in a professional manner, maturity, proactiveness, enthusiasm, reliability, among others.

During the interview dress appropriately (presentation is huge), remember that you are being judged from the moment you drive into the parking lot (do not be rude to the receptionist). Finally, keep in mind that any number of people can do the job. You will not be hired or promoted only on how well you can do your job but on how well you are liked.
