  1. Which One?  Spanish or American or British or ? On this forum the only acceptable answer is that the American Civil War was all about States Right, the heck with the rights of N^groes, and by the way the mean ole North with all its industry was picking on the noble agirgcultural South - - - any other argument and the merest hint that the issue of slavery was involved brings a vigorous thumbs down and sometimes the Yamsters delete your answer!!

The English Civil War was a mixture of Charles Stuart's arrogance clashing with a Parliament determined to a have a say in the affairs of State; many can chalk the English not so Civil War to the struggle for Democracy.

The Spanish Civil was so complex that it defies easy description suffice it to say that varous factions fought for control of the nation and that the generals, in particular Francisco Franco won  (and yes Francisco Franco is STILL dead)...

  2. Charle's obstinancy and desire to rule as an autocrat.

It highlighted the religious tensions in his three kingdoms and his choice of aides was pretty bad too.
