I went to Nepal couples of months ago, probably in April this year, after may be 25 years. All Nepal is naturally beautiful with its mountain and lakes. I liked Pokhara very much which is about six to seven hour bus trip from Kathmandu (AC bus $15 w/lunch, non AC bus around $5 to $6 w/o lunch). There is a beautiful lake in Pokhara and many hotels to stay. It is in the valley of Annapurna region where you can visit many small mountain towns with views of the multiple peaks of Himalayas. They have tree-house lodges also to stay and eat. Because Annapurna is a conservation area, you have to pay a small fee for a pass.

Pokhara is beautiful, and Marpha- near the upper end of the Annapurna trek- was the most beautiful, charming mountain town we saw in Nepal.  We went 5 or 6 years ago, and still reminisce all the time...  It has cobbled streets, and you feel completely transported through time.
