I would choose Scrabble first.  It is the ultimate board game, a challenge, and a great game to play.

Then I would choose Mancala, because it is an ancient game, deceptively simple, but amazingly complex.  You can make a game easily with an empty egg carton and some stones if you do not have one.  In some cultures people play the game by making small holes in the ground.

I think you can get either of them in India, through the Internet if not locally.
