What are some of the reasons to oppose artificial life?

im not sure if i appose it myself.

but a lot of people argue that they're enough real babies out their that need help, why create one on your own kinda thing...make sense?

Computers could become far to relied upon and we would slowly lose what makes us human. Also, they could be dangerous if programmed to have "evil" intelligence.

If you are talking about people, then messing with genes can have disasterous effects if not done to 99.999% accuarcy. Immunity to cancer, heart disease would be ofset by short life spans and mental illness such as depression. In short we should leave it until we are absoutly sure we know what we are doing. Lives are a very dangerous thing to mess with.
