In Singapore, doctors and nurses would avoid eating meat "Bao" (meat bun), which sounds like "Da Bao" (Wrap and package). "Da Bao" in hospital means wrapping up another dead corpse. Do you heard of any other such superstitious practices in hospital?

  1. "Bao" not only sounds like "Da bao" but also "bao ka liao" which means handle everything. Beside this, eating mee siam (hot and sour malay rice noodles) can mean "siam" (to avoid something bad), eating soon kway suggests "soon" (smooth in hokkien).
