I had a bad experience today: my 2 year old daughter threw up in the taxi. It was a leather seat and i cleaned it up immediately with her wipes and the stupid driver threatens to take me to the police and i have to pay 200dhs! when i said there is nothing to show to the police 'cause i had cleaned it up he says what about the smell? I just walked off. My hubby called Dubai taxi and they said it was a scam.

  1. Yea, that was a scam.   Some are nice and others can drive you absolute bonkers.  When you go under the toll gates watch to see them push the button.  Some add it on right to the total and others it goes above the total and is added at the end.  Anyway, if your not paying attention they can add it right away and ask you for it again at the end and if your not paying attention there really isn't much you can do.  If you can, always give them directions.  I wanted to go to the marina once, from the airport and told him to go by the Hard Rock Cafe and be turned to go the slow way through Jumeirah 1, like you have got to be kidding.  I had him turn around and took off the difference off the meter.  I used to them every where and then got so frustrated that I went and got myself a car.  Now I only use them when I have a few drinks. Good on ya for walking away.

  2. dont call him stupid he is intelligent

  3. If something like that happens again (I truly hope not), let him call the police. If he does not, you threaten him to call the police. You've not committed a crime. You still did the right thing by walking away and not falling for the scam.

It was the drivers responsibility to be courteous and actually ask you if your daughter needed any medical assistance, let alone ask you for money to clean it up.

Don't let it ruin your mood. That's how some people just are!
