i have lived out here for more than a year and not meeting the people i would like to. i am a young professional living in newport beach, and looking to meet people my age with similar lifestyles. One of my friends recently moved to chicago where their company enrolled them in a social club, and they said it was a lot of fun and a great opportunity to meet people, have a good time and network. i tried looking to see if there was anything like that in my area and came up with nothing. if you know of something along the lines of what i am talking about please share!

  1. Depends on who you want to meet exactly. Newport Beach events never seemed to me to attract young professionals as much as the idle rich. I'm not sure what those people do exactly, but I don't think it involves a profession. Long Beach is more regular people, but maybe less of a concentration of "professionals". Costa Mesa might work better demographically, or Irvine, but not much goes on in Irvine. You can usually find various clubs listed in the OC Weekly, but the farther they are towards the back pages the more likely they are to be strip bars and swingers groups. There's also no shortage of matchmaking/dating groups for  "professionals", but I've never tried them. A good way to get a line on stuff like that is to go to things like charity wine tastings or the Santa Ana art walk and talk to people. Go to things that attract people with disposable income.
