As a kid, I didn't much care for the chores, but now, thinking back, I didn't have it so bad. Feeding the hogs, cows, chickens, rabbits... it wasn't hard work. Milking the cows, gathering vegetables, cleaning pens and hutches... it wasn't bad at all.

How about you? Any good memories?

  1. Talking to the Miniature horse with dwarfism :)

  2. we had pigs and chickens, 4 goats, rabbits ,  and  a few cows, so each one of us had  things to do, there where 4 kids and my moms brothers and sister that moved in with us  3 of them,  and we all had things to do,

i loved to be out side, and the chickens where cool  that we could get eggs, and we also had a very big garden, which we had alot of veg. to can, so if we where not feeding animals we where snapping peas, or shucking corn, or stuff like that, it was fun i dont have all those know days as i got older, but my kids did have a few animals when there where growing up.    but it was so many good memories, sometimes i wish i was little again :) :)))))))))))))) it was nice being young lol lol

  3. I remember when the pullets got out of the coop and we had to gather them all back up and my uncle showed me how to hold two in each hand by their feet!  I thought that was so cool.  There was a HUGE turkey and most  of them hid in there so he went in there and handed them out to the rest of us!

  4. The smell of fresh mowed hay. nothing better. I also helped my neighbor milk his cows for two years. That was a lot of fun. I still farm, so I have a lot of memories of it.

  5. Enjoyed the farm, shucking corn, and stripping peas with Granny. At the age of four playing with the worms on the corn was a highlight,ha! ha!   Will never forget our horses, and all the hay bailing, whewwwwwwww the heat ,was a killer. Had geese, rabbits, boar hogs, sheep, blue heeler, and a few moo-moos,ok cows. Keep busy at the Ft.Worth Stock Yards ,and all over Texas with my animals through the years now all that is left is one loyal dog. To much to keep up the others these days, sure do miss it ya,ll. Have a good un. :)

  6. Being stalked by the Ram while carrying feed to the pet deer and eventually being caught in the rear and going airborn, Ouch!
