Must the vehicle be visible (line of sight)? Does the owner of the vehicle have the right to act as arbiter and judge in case of any disputes (house rules)? What are your responsibilities as shotgun (DJ, navigator)?

  1. yes the vehicle must be in eyesight, also you cant say "shotgun" until you are actually leaving a place.  "shotgun" must be yelled out loud so everyone can hear it.  the driver is the judge and can make any changes.  and if you make another stop and everyone gets out of the car...shotgun is up for grabs again..no matter how far the the drive was.

  2. you have to be within 30 feet of the car. Not only this makes it more challenging but it create suspense! Responsibilities are range from assisting driver, pulling out of parking lots with cross traffic, to controlling music atmosphere within and around the vehicle. Oh, and the driver calls the shot whether who gets to ride or not!

  3. One rule. The biggest guy always wins.

  4. car sick

  5. Don't worry about it so much.  When you get older and start high school, it will make sense.

  6. Well there are already some rules that exclude the possibility of shotgun. First...if you are traveling with family, the eldest automatically gets shotgun, that is just seniority. Second, if you are a friend of the friend driving and do not have a direct relationship with the driver, you also cannot claim shotgun.

Now that those exemptions are out of the way. The car definitely has to be in view and you also must say shotgun clearly and loud enough so that all contenders hear.

Oh yeah.....responsibilities of the shotgun recipient include assisting with navigation, making any necessary phone calls for the driver and finding the best music to fit the theme of the drive.
