There classifications that biofuels can be put into such as bioalcohols what other classifications are there?

  1. First Generation: Vegetable oil, Biodiesel, Bioalcohols, BioGas,  Solid biofuels, Syngas

    Second Generation: cellulose alcohol, biohydrogen, biomethanol, DMF, Bio-DME, Fischer-Tropsch diesel, biohydrogen diesel, mixed alcohols and wood diesel.

    Third Generation: Algae fuel, also called oilgae.

    Fourth Generation: Genetically engineering microorganisms that use CO2 to produce biofuel as biodiesel, ethanol or even hydrogen..

    Pure Hydrogen (H2) is not considered as biofuel although it may be generated from biomass or any other plant/animal products. SynGas which is mixture of hydrogen & carbon monoxide is considered biofuel.
