  1. "Kiss my grits"...Just kidding, but seriously, hominy grits "Is made from field corn that is soaked in lye water (potash water in the old days) and stirred over the next day or two until the entire shell or bran comes loose and rises to the top. The kernel itself swells to twice its original size. After the remaining kernels have been rinsed several times, they are spread to dry either on cloth or screen dryers."

  2. Southern cooking - fry the hominy in a skillet with a bit of butter.  That is how my mom made it.  I use a non-stick pan now and use olive oil instead of the butter.

Then I got married and my husband was used to it being added to sausages or pork chops. More of a German influence.   I fry up the sausages and when they are almost done I drain the hominy and add it to the pan.  The juices from the sausages give flavor to the hominy and when it is heated through I serve it with the sausages.  When I use pork chops I do the same thing.

  3. Many I use it in my tortilla soup and some times I just use some garlic and butter with it you can add it to burritos let your imagination go crazy.

  4. i dont know what posole is.
