My cat (3yr old) has fleas and lately I haven't seen many of them on her. Just one this morning but seemed dead. I want some suggestions on products I can use to treat her (soaps, foams, etc...) as well as things for my house. I haven't seen any around the house. I've vaccumed everday. :)

  1. do not use soaps foams or any other product that you can get at a pet store as products like hartz cause sever reactions in pets (Hartz has been known to cause seizures)

use adavantage, feline advantix, frontline, or frontline plus

Only meds that they sell at your vet will be effective in prevention.

  2. Here are a few natural remedies to rid your pet of fleas:  Dust powdered rosemary leaves on your pet, avoiding pet's eyes.  Rosemary repels fleas and ticks.  Crush a fresh clove of garlic each morning and mix in with your pet's food.  Lemongrass and tansy essential oils repel fleas.  Mix 20 drops of each in 4 oz. of water in a spray bottle.  Spritz on your pet daily, avoiding contact with pet's eyes.

  3. For the house, I use Bengal for fleas; it works for a long time and really well, and you can get it at Walmart for ten bucks.  A spot-on treatment is what we always used for our cat, because it's easier--you don't have to bathe the cat or drive it crazy with spraying it.  We usually ask the vet what they recommend, because fleas build up immunity to any product you use; the vet usually knows what's working for people right now and what is not.  We've used Frontline, Frontline Plus, and Advantage.  They all have worked well.  We also used Revolution (I think that's the name) which does other stuff besides just killing the fleas.  For some reason, I never have to change from Bengal, though; it keeps on working for me, year after year, and I only have to use it twice a year.

  4. I would bomb the house for sure.

when my cat picked up fleas, I used the flea shampoo and scrubbed her like crazy....it still took two times to get them all

  5. Diatomaceous earth can be used on the cat, around the home, everywhere and does not contain dangerous chemicals like Advantage, Frontline and all those types of flea killers.

The rate of cancer in dogs and cats has skyrocketed since the use of those products has gained popularity.

  6. Good one psy...

Advantix is the only one I can think of right now.  I have NO clue how well it works.  Sorry.

  7. every month treat her with stuff you can get from the vet, i use frontline and it works fine :)

  8. Fleas don't make good pets

They always want to put on a circus
