  1. I wholeheartedly can recommend Slovenia to you! This true hidden gem is far too underrated these days, even though it's cheap, has got lots of mountains & great landscapes as well as beaches and warm weather! Also, it's not yet overloaded by tourists, and people there are very friendly & speak good English! And the euros are in use there as well...

  2. Bath & York are cool in England; Seville and Salamanca are great places in Spain; Budapest (Hungary); Brasov in Romania is beautiful and I hear Cesky Kremlov is cool, too.  I would try to go to cheaper places in Eastern Europe and also some cool places along the coast like Croatia.  Have fun!

  3. I would recommend Venice. I heard it's sinking and soon it'll vanish into the sea.

  4. Belgium is one of my favorites.  If you love beer they have some great places to go to. Especially the Delirium Cafe which has 2001 different beers.  Grab a Belgian waffle from a street vendor on your way, they are fantastic.  Have lunch at Chez Leon, Mussels and Fries.

Munich is great too.  There are free walking and biking tours and the guides are really good.  Everyone I met in Munich was very nice. I even had people offer to drive me around town and show me the city.  Grab lunch or dinner with the locals at J.W. Augisteener on Landsberger Strasse off the Hackerbruke metro stop.  Then hit up the English gardens, have a beer in the park, and listen to the live band.

So those are my 2 favorite places which I try to visit every time I go to Europe.  I think you will find them as interesting as I did.  Enjoy your trip.

  5. Copenhagen is a very nice city, I planned on staying there 3 days and ended up satying a week, and returning 2 months later for another week. If you go to England, be sure to visit a little town called Eyam, it's a medieval town and it's got a very interesting story, I also loved York. I didn't like Paris when I was there, and now I just wish I could be back, for some reason I have fond memories of the place, although nothing really special happened there.

In Ireland, stay away from Dublin, the charming side of Ireland is the countryside. Go to small towns. Dingle has a lovely beach, although me being a warm blooded creature, I couldn't get in the water, but I spent hours and hours just enjoying the view.

If I think of more places, I'll edit this.

Edit: The most important or more touristical medieval towns out there are Siena (Italy) and Brugges (Belgium). Siena was alright, but Brugges, although a very lovely town, was waaaaaayyyyyyyy too overcrowded and I was fed up with the place 5 minutes after I got there. My bet is on Eyam now, not many people know of this place, so I was able to enjoy a very nice and quiet walk around town, and my pictures of Eyam are not flooded with strangers. Good luck taking a picture in Brugges.

I also want to say that backpacking was one of the best decisions I ever made, so make the best of it. At first it seems weird, and I was depressed because I was scared, if you feel down for the first few days, it's normal, and it will get a lot better.

  6. Zurich is nice, but the airport is very strict.,  Spain is neat, but there are a few places I would not go, stay in the major cities like Madrid etc...

  7. Albania, Italy,Greece, Turkey, England

  8. Ohrid, Macedonia and Barcelona, Spain... both amazing and beautiful, yet cheap
