The way standardized tests are being abused, there are no positive outcomes.  It is ridiculous to test every kid at every level, and to grade schools solely on the basis of one test.  Then for schools to meet AYP, every disaggregated group must be proficient.  There will never be any school or district of any size to meet every AYP target.  In Colorado, no district with more than 5500 students met AYP.  The twenty-percent of the districts in Colorado that did not meet AYP serve eighty-percent of the students in the state.

    However, if they were used appropriately, they would give schools an idea of what they are doing well, and what they aren't.
