  1. potentially deeper bass, better to go with if you have aftermarket 6x9's with nice woofers

  2. i have used single sub set ups for a long time now and love it. i have a single 15 that will out perform most multi sub set ups...it all in the install ;-) however, if your only going with one....get a good one. the pros are you save space and only need an amp to power one. and if you do it right, you gain the respect of others by sounding awesome and only using one.

check out these sites for subs:

  3. For one...space....weight. Lower weight, due to a smaller box, could spare you a couple of coins at the pump.  The sound might be deeper depending on the application.

  4. As was already said, one twelve will be lighter and take up less space. It will also play a little lower, but I personally don't think it plays way lower than a 10", to the point where you can notice a whole lot. The bad thing is that one 12" won't be as loud. What you should consider is ONE ten inch. It's light and compact, and can possibly hit just as hard as a twelve. I've found that the also tend to be more accurate and tight.

I recently did a comparison on two identical JBL subs with the exception that one was a 12" and the other 10". They had the same power ratings, impedance etc. In a ported box, the 10" was only two dB quieter, which is probaly not enough to notice the difference.

Take my advice and get a good quality 10". I guarantee you won't be dissapointed.

  5. 2 10 is 20 inches of cone space  1 12 is only 12 inches

20 sq inches of cone space move more  air and sound better

i will go with 2 10 if you have the space

  6. The major reason is price.  It'll usually cost more for dual 10's.  Otherwise two of anything is almost always louder than one of anything.  For example, I used to have a single 12" 400 watt system and now I have dual 10's on two amps that are 200 watts each and the tens are far louder.  The other major, MAJOR difference and I mean major is the frequency it plays the loudest at.  12's in general can play much lower frequencies than 10's.  So if you have crappy mids like stock speakers or something that can't go very low, get 10's so they can play higher frequencies at higher volumes to make up for the lacking mids.  Another consideration is amount of room left in your trunk assuming that's where you put it.  Dual 10 boxes are bigger than most single 12's.  Oh and you need double the cabling but that's like $0.50 a foot.  Also your amp would have to be able to output in two stereo channels (so basically 4 sound output terminals) to power each 10.  Some boxes can take one input and jump from one 10 to the other but that's not always a good way to do it so most just have two hookups on the box.
