  1. First and foremost, teaching is an emotionally rewarding job.  You get the pleasure of helping others, shaping young minds, showing kids how to be positive and responsible citizens, etc.  It does have more materialistic benefits, depending on your district.  In my district, we get full benefits (medical/dental/vision) for ourselves and our families.  We also get a generous amount of sick days, personal days, and family illness days (if someone in your family is sick and needs help).  You also get bereavement days separate from your sick/personal days if someone close to you passes away.  You get all the major holidays off, summer vacations, and you're home by 3 o'clock.  Those are major benefits if you have a family or kids.  If you are in the union, you get support with many things.  For example, if a child accuses you of something illegal, the union will help you with emotional and legal support.

  2. extreme patience. wonderful kids. summers off. benefits. knowing that you're contributing to make this world a better place. hanging out with kids keeps you young with fresh perspective.

  3. Influencing young minds. Respect, decent pay, and summers off w/ pay.

  4. Being with kids all day, having a chance to constantly see the world through fresh eyes.  Watching kids blossom and grow.  Always knowing what is "cool", what is current, what is out of date.  Recess, every day! Having 25 people who want your approval every single day. Not having to dress up. Not having to travel.  Not having a cubicle. Laughing at least twice a day.

  5. I love the payoffs of teaching.......

Financially, the money isn't that great, but getting paid to do what I love is amazing...

Yeah, the benefits are great if you're talking insurance (health, well/sick care, dental, vision, etc) but the benefit of being able to go to a place to work every day and know that I'm in a safe and supportive environment is beyond...

Knowing that I am impacting the future gives me the chills sometimes!  These kids are amazing, and all they bring into the classroom adds to the richness of teaching.  No matter how much I have planned for my day, all it takes is one question to derail the plans and lead down a different learning adventure for the day.

Benefit... not ever being bored!  Kids are who they are, they show up every morning, happy, sad, glad, mad and they bring it with them!  It keeps things unpredictable and exciting.  Yeah, I may teach math, social studies, reading, writing, science, etc every day, but the deliver of the day all depends on the kids.  Ever spent an entire hour talking in a southern accent (and I'm not from the south?!) It adds a whole new twist to the math lesson that was challenging half the kids!

The biggest benefit for me comes in seeing my students succeed.  Sometimes the success are small (they finally remembered to capitalize the sentence!) and sometimes they're big (they finally passed all their multiplication facts!)  and sometimes they are unrelated to school, yet powerful beyond measure.  The child who had been shuffled from mom's to dad's to grandma's finally settling into a happy routine...

The benefits of teaching, if you love your job, really are hard to measure!

  6. Summers off, long weekends for holidays, spring break, winter break, thanksgiving break, other random breaks.   Decent amount of sick days.   The pay is ok, it is great when close to retirement.  Depending where you are, the retirement itself (I am in NYS, jackpot).

When you get down to it, the job itself pays far more than money, when you go home at night you have a sense of accomplishment and know that you are helping change the lives of many people.  Working with kids does help you feel young and alive too.

  7. Free health in NC, low cost dental insurance, low cost life insurance.  summers off oh yeah did I mention SUMMERS OFF!!

All i know is about teaching in NC

  8. summers off, helping and teaching youngsters learn...having an influence...keeping up to date!
