  1. Fusion reactors actually wouldn't produce any fissionable material like today's nuclear reactors so the terrorist comment was uncalled for. The present design that they are working towards is  a torus (dough nut shaped reactor) that uses magnetic fields to contain a super hot plasma and collide it with itself to trigger the fusion. They have already done this but they can't sustain it for more than a few seconds.


  2. You'd have to heat it to the temperature of the sun before a fusion reaction would happen, which, outside of an atom bomb, is difficult to do.  Really seemingly unfeasible in a controlled way, hence the ongoing search for "cold fusion"
