What are some possible things I should worry about while taking anti-depressants?

I told the doctor that prozac made me way too jittery, nervous, and restless the last time I took it, when I was about 28. I am 33 now, and just received my prescription for paxil (the doctor said it shouldn't be as bad as far as side effects), and the information pamphlet that usually comes with the medication has me worried. It has warnings on it that in the beginning stages of taking the medicine, my depression and anxiety can actually worsen (especially for young people). I cannot afford this. Is this really common?

  1. ,you have to give some time to the medicine to work ,this kind of antidepressants need some days until you will feel better

But if you do not ,make an appointment with your doctor and he will adjust the treatment  exactly  for what you need

  2. Getting addicted to them, and side effects on the box.

Don't mix them with alcohol and drugs, and some people have strong tendencies to abuse them.

  3. Most anti-depressants are not physically addictive. When you say you can't afford a worsening of symptoms, are you weighing the discomfort of a few weeks or even days, against a lifetime of relief. For the moment it may be wise not to make judgments quickly. If you feel lousy today that does not mean that it will last for the rest of your life. Give it a chance. It seems to me that the emotion that weighs most heavily upon you now is not depression, but anxiety. Consider this in the same way as a dentist appointment. You are willing to put up with the pain and discomfort of the moment in order to avoid the consequences of losing your teeth.

  4. getting dependant on the pills.

  5. I'm on zoloft and its helped so much

my mom has taken paxil and prozac

but none have helped her more than zoloft

obviously all anti-depressants can have side-effects

but any medicine can, they just have to warn you

but so far with zoloft nothing happened other than ive had a bit more of an appetite.

But more often than not anti-depressants will help more than hurt.

  6. Dependency/natural body chemistry deterioration.Blessings Yahoo

  7. What you are reading is worse case scenerio. Yes it is true that it could happen, especially with ZOLOFT but I took Paxil and it was a world of difference. Depending on your chemestry, you should be fine. I remember the first time I took Paxil, that first night I slept better than I have in a long time.

  8. It is very difficult to get off of them.

    Good luck.
