  1. GOOD:

    The last deadly ice age ended about 18,000 years ago. Global Warming has driven the glaciers back about 2,000 miles since then, exposing billions of acres of land for forests to grow, for humans and animals to thrive.

    The increased CO2 in the atmosphere is food for plants, making them grow quicker, use less water to grow and making more oxygen for us all to breathe.  More CO2 contributes to the 'greening' of the planet.

    Many species have prospered thanks to climate change.   Others have gone extinct.  This is normal in the Earth's climate cycles.  There is nothing 'bad' about these very normal processes.

    What is 'bad' is that some humans are inconvenienced by climate changes.  We consider it 'bad' even though it is natural.  People who stand to make a lot of money through carbon offset taxes are using scare tactics.

    I'm not worried.  This has been going on for a very long time.

  2. if you are seriously in interested in knowing much about global warming.i would recommend you to watch a documentary by former US vice president AL GORE.the name of the documentary is "an inconvenient truth".check out www.climatecrisis.net.

  3. If the precursor to a major ice age is a major warming period, then bringing on a warming period earlier will give us the major ice age sooner.

    That is, while a warming period puts more water into the oceans, and warms the oceans ready to evaporate and become snow, the next ice age uses that warmed ocean water to lower the ocean levels and build the glaciers of he north.

    Humanity will likely survive through both a major warming period and the following major ice age. Our population may be decimated.

    Which of those is the good and which the bad outcome.

  4. I dont think there are many good things about the destruction of our planet.

  5. Good: Wheat will be grown in Siberia, coconuts in North Dakota. Bad: Malaria spreads, deserts expand.

  6. First, read Softballs answer above. This is a fairly typical answer. But its also nearly as ignorant as someone who completely disregards Global Warming as something worth our concern. What I want people to think about, is whats natural and whats unnatural. Are we natural? I'll explain.

    To truly have a good philisophic viewpoint, you need to be armed with more than "humans are destroying the planet". Earth has had much higher C02 levels than exist today in the Carboniferous period. During this period plants dominated the Earth in numbers and volume more than ever before. Plants love C02, which is kind of an ironic blunder never pointed out about the 'Green Movement', being green isnt really being green. Either way, we know temperature does rise due to increased C02.

    Are we devastating the planet beyond repair, or are we just delaying another ice-age? (the Discovery Channel even states the next ice-age is inevitable) And if so, is the damage we might cause from an unnatural warming trend really more harmful than a natural occurring ice-age? Either must do significant damage to ecosystems.

    Does the Green Movement really believe in allowing things to naturally occur? We are as natural occurring as any animal, and natural occurrances will someday be devastating to us if we dont create unnatural occurrences. (Im not supporting we continue releasing immense amounts of C02 here, read on) Although its easy to bash the human race for its impact on ecosystems, mother nature itself has done far worse, far more times. Infact, the destruction of ecosystems and species through natural events has been a primary change agent for the evolution of life.

    It may be shocking, but mass extinction is a naturally occurring event. But if we can unnaturally stop it, should we? Ofcourse we will, and we'd do for are own benefit. So why pretend to be 'Green'? We're here to do the best for Earth as it suits us. Stop pretending. We dont want Ocean levels to rise, but we dont want another ice-age either. (which would be every bit as devastating) This is why I have a softer stance on Global Warming. Think it through, dont just listen to the rhetoric. Yes, it comes from the left too. If it didnt, Softball wouldnt be restating a well-held belief. The truth is, the world destroys, and rebuilds, by itself. We're going to try to impact the natural events from occurring just as hard as the manmade ones, whether we're a bleeding heart liberal, or a die-hard conservative. Humans cant survive if we dont. It all begs the question, whats natural? We're natural, and I believe the Earth as we know it requires us doing things *some* would call unnatural. Instead of saying we're destroying Earth, I'd say we're constantly trying to understand how to treat it so it suits us better.

    You really think nature would purposely save Polar Bears? Nature has a proven track record that says it wouldnt. But I bet humans do. So stop telling me how bad we are.

  7. global warming doesnt exist. the ozone itself is a bad gas. the solar system as well as earth works in cycles. the sun is just very hot which makes every other planet hot. even pluto is hot and thats not even a planet

  8. Two Good things

    1. Its not real;

    2. Its all made up;

    Two Bad things:

    1. It runs up commodity prices and profits a small amount of people;

    2. It hurts the economy and progress

  9. nothing good abt it.our planet earth is going to get destroyed if global warming exists

  10. good-uhhhhh........ nope, nothin

    bad-alot

  11. there is no good or bad, thats just a prejudice in peoples mind, its just a natural part of the life cycle, and for those that say it isnt real, go back and finish high school so that you can at least have the basics of education, sheesh!

    Anyway,

    one of the good things, as horrible as it sounds, is it provides a rapid change which species must adapt to and quickly - more or less like a test, and though the human race has long been tested for survival we have gotten such a foothold that we no longer need to compete in this game, that is why it is crucial we help the other species survive otherwise we may be facing a planet with a very small iversity in species.

    As for negative, you could take the rising temperatures and sea levels, less spring water etc.

    Overall its just another environmental test for survival, those that die as a result have not been provided with the genetic means to survive, its the whole Darwin evolutionary survival concept, just on a much larger scale. (and if anyone says evolution is true, then please, finish primary school, even they teach it nowadays!)
