What are some present day examples of outcasts?

A society is only as good as the way it treats it's most impoverished.

In any subset within society (& there are many different groups of people that make up one society) there are outcasts ~ you are right, there are many.

As to which ones are more important, they all have relevance in stakes of importance.

The ones that have a greater impact? Probably the ones that are seen/witnessed by many first hand or given more media attention on a daily basis.

Well, it all depends on where they live, their soceity, and how the people around them view them. You can be sort of gangster in the hood and everyone welcomes you. But however if you live in the uppity class area with rich people your considered an outcast and no one wants to talk to you. All depends on the views of the society in which they live in.

I guess the many homeless people who live on the streets of America are considered outcasts by most of society. Drug users are another example. People with criminal records are suspicious to many people. Some very original thinkers and artists have been outcasts. [Then there's always Andre 2000 :)]

I'm not trying to be a wise guy but I am a living and high functioning outcast. I do not have any friends, zero social life, but I am happy and content with my life. There was a time I struggled and sought to seek my niche, but the niche did not seek me. I have a job, and I find ways to humor myself and have taken great exception to my disposition.
