What are some pros and cons of field trips?

good things  about field trips is that there is a lot  of things  u could learn from it

the bad thing is that there is too many  good things for me to count

Pro- Hands on learning if planned well and integrated into lesson plans before AND after; student engagement is usually extremely high - much better than if in a text book; fun; memorable

Con-Safety, costs, unpredictability - buses run late, milk leaks over the lunches, traffic, volunteers don't show up

Field trips allow the participants to learn by observation.

It will buildup self confidence, stamina, understanding the needs of others & foster friendship& cooperation.

Many of the scientific discoveries have become possible only by going on field trips- for eg;  the discovery of America or new sea routes, theory of evolution by Darwin so on.

field trip helps bring science to life and challenges students with hands-on exhibits and programs that are steppingstones to inquiry-based learning.

The problems may arise in the form  of finance, safety,incompetent volunteers. But with proper planning these hurdles can be over come. Man by nature is inquisitive & loves exploring. With modern transports ,  communication media & medical facilities things are made more comfortable.

Collecting information about the place to be visited & with proper instructions to the participants field trips are must for the mental & physical growth of the individuals.
