Question:

What are some pros/cons for the Sony Alpha 200 SLR camera?

i'm new to the proffesional camera business, and im wondering if this would be a great 'begginner' camera for me.

Also, if anyone owns this camera, can you tell me some pro's and con's about it?

  1. Now, I dont know much about the Sony SLRs.

    Although my personal preference is Nikon, I can link to some reviews on the camera you mentioned.

    I would like to point out that the Nikon D40 seems to offer more than this camera, for around the same price.

    But aside from that, it looks like a good camera.


  2. IMO the best feature of the A200 is the in-camera image stabilization. Plus the fact that Sony has a Carl Zeiss T* line of lenses. Also, the ability to use every legacy Minolta Maxxum AF lens made since 1985 is a major plus.

    Cons?

    You'll never have to pay for image stabilization when you buy a lens.

    You'll be different from the Nikon/Canon herd.
