well, it reduces our landfills significantly..and some cities will even give you money for used cans or newspapers..not all cities care about our environment I used to live in h**l... oops I meant west Texas and those rednecks didn't care one bit about our environment.

Recycling saves energy:  making a product out of recycled materials saves resources over mining and manufacturing from virgin material.  This energy savings translates into fewer green house gases generated to make recycled products and fewer products into the waste stream.
