  1. I agree with Dangerman...

There is no Iconic place in Montreal, because the city is

    Iconic itself.

It does not need a tower made of steel and glass to define

    itself.

    Do not miss:

    - Old Montreal, and the port.

    - A trip to the lookouts at the top of the mountain

    - A trip to Ave. de St. Arthur.  Do not forget to take your bottle of favorite wine with you.

  2. I liked the bio dome if it is still in operation and the view of the city from the mountain at night is great but there really isn't any must see items in Montreal.

Aside from the mountain there really isn't any of those "must see" things in Montreal that define a place.  Maybe the old city but Quebec City's is better.  When you say a place name a definable icon should pop into mind, say New York and you get the Twin Towers or the Empire state building, Paris the Eiffel tower, Rome well Rome!!!!, Athens the parthanon but you get NOTHING for Montreal

If you are a religious person (Roman Catholic) there is the St James Oratory my sister-in-law raved about the place but it was just another church to me nothing special but then I'm a reformed druid

Have a good trip and safe home

  3. There are many many places to go to there in Montreal.

Try visiting the Irish Pubs on Crescent Street, the Amusement Park at "LaRonde", the Old Port in Montreal, The Place Des Arts Theatre Complex. Ride on the Metro underground to the Botanical Gardens - Take a Dinner-Dancing boat Cruise up and down the St.Lawrence River.    - there are the most Fantastic Restaurants with all kinds of ethnic foods to temp your  palette.  They also have music outdoor concerts and Art Expositions throughout the city during the summer months.

  4. Oh god... how much time do you have? lol

Well La Ronde.. the amusment park.. for one lol. The Bio - Dome if you like animals. Olympic stadium. Then downtown Montreal... the Eaton center (shopping) and one of my favorite features of Montreal.. the UNDERGROUND shopping. It's awesome and a great way to avoid the street crowds above. There are a bunch of Bars and Clubs in the downtown area

You could also stop by the Bell Center. Disney on ice is normally there or a concert or something or other.. or if you just like hockey.. you can go see where the Habs (Montreal Canadians) play.

You could go up on the mountain to see a full view of the city. That's really it for the nature part of montreal

there is also a great little Indian village just off the Mercier bridge.

Be sure to also check out old Montreal. The cobble stone roads and everything.. there is a lot of things for turists to do down there!
