"A society often can be judged by the way it treats its most vulnerable citizens."

I need a real life example of this. The only one I can think of is people in the city walking by homeless people and not doing anything..so i need another! Any ideas?

  1. children are vulnerable right? so maybe think of another country with child labor. or maybe women are vulnerable to rape or robberies and those sorts of things.

  2. Physically and mentally handicapped people.  Often others won't look at them or speak to them, they act like they are embarrassed by them.

  3. A society's most vulnerable citizens are the members of a minority group who are vulnerable to oppression by the majority.  One of these minorities is the very wealthy, who are vulnerable to the unjust taking of their property by the majority.  Aside from such political vulnerability, the vulnerable are the very young, the old, the sick or infirmed or handicapped, and the poor.

A society may design its government to protect minorities and it may also enact programs or encourage the formation of markets that socialize risks and address the needs of the vulnerable.
