that are similar to edgar allan poe's short stories? like, kinda creepy style

"The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner" by Alan Sillitoe

It's a little longer than most short stories, I think they refer to it as a novella or something like that.  50 or so pages

EDIT I strongly agree with above answer regarding Kurt Vonnegut Jr.  He has many great short stories and great full length too.

Check out The Best American Short Stories, that has some really great ones. Also Stephen Kings Different Seasons is fantastic and very creepy.

I was going to suggest Edgar Allen Poe but Stephen King's "Everything Eventual" and other books of short stories by him are great.
