Ok, so me & a few of my friends are getting together this weekend to watch scary movies. What are some horror movies that are truly scary, not just totally ridiculous (like one missed call). We have all seen the ring (one & two) and the grudge (one & two). What movies do you recommend?

Thanks♥

  1. Did you like the Ring and the Grudge?  If you did, then I would definitely suggest watching Silent Hill.  Its plot is kind of similar (I'm not going to say any more for fear of ruining it for you), and it is scary in a surreal sort of way.  Its also not like most horror movies today, where stuff just jumps out of the dark.  Instead, it uses atmosphere and disturbing plot elements to just totally freak you out.

If you didn't like either of the two, then I think you should pick up a copy of The Ruins.  That movie is guaranteed to make your skin crawl.

  2. I highly recommend The Exorcist.

  3. Shrooms would be a good choice.

  4. try...

    saw 1-4

halloween [the old one but it's just a thriller]

gravedancers [bit corny but i get surprised in some scenes]

    the exorcist

the exorcism of emily rose [by far the scariest 4 me after the grudge]

    the omen

    asylum

    1408

    prom night

when a stranger calls [thriller and kinda weird]

    the fog

    sixth sense [thriller]

    texas chainsaw massacre

    the mist

    hide and seek

    the bogeyman

    jeepers creepers [yeaaaaaaah!]

    ...i can't remember the rest.

  5. I have several suggestions, with the first one being 'The Exorcist.'  Make sure you get the version that was never seen in theaters.

Several more to choose from are:

    1. Amityville Horror (original)

    2. Thirty Days of Night

    3. Nightmare on Elm Street (the first one is the best)

    4. Friday the 13th (the first one)

    5. 28 Days Later

    6. Wolfen

  6. Try Strangeland with Dee Snider. It is awesome! and really scary!

  7. The Excorcist

    Salems Lot

    Children of the Corn

Misery...not horror really but the greatest movie made from a Stephen King novel. You and your friends will love it.

Deliverence (R rated though). Classic but really good

  8. Candyman, with Tony Todd and Virginia Madsen

The Changeling, with George C. Scott

  9. Hostel 1 and 2

If you like gore horror you will love it.

  10. I have always liked the Hellraiser series, it gets the hair on the back of my neck agitated.

  11. Tooth Fairy

    Candy Man

    Silence of the Lambs

    The Dentist

    Psycho

    Original Exorcist

    Dreamcatcher

    Rosemary's Baby

    Alien

    The Original Black Christmas

    Hellraiser

    Dead Ringers

    Dawn Of The Dead

    Dressed To Kill

    The Haunting

There is tons more I could list.  Another thing you could do is go to your local movie store and ask one of the workers what they recommend.

    3) Amityville Horror

    4) The Shinning

    5) Return of The Living Dead

    6) Salem's Lot

    Those were the best...

  15. I have several recommendations, for oldies: The Shine

more recently and specially if you liked the ring: Audition (Korea), it's kinda slow at the beginning but it gets serious and a bit gore.

if you want something more like the texas chainsaw massacre in it's original version 1974 (wich i also recommend): Haute tension (France 2003) in english HIGH TENSION

if you want something scary and really strange: Possession (1981) with Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neil, it's definetly a movie you won't forget

last but certaintly not least: Event Horizon (1997)

but if you're really desperate, search between Korean movies.
