What are some reasons Islam spread so rapidly?

islam spread rapidly because they used force to convert people.

Other guy:  Umm... I think I'll convert.

Mohamed:  Wonderful... good choice... repeat after me:  Al illah il Allah...

Other guy: ila ali ala hah

Mohamed:  You need to work on your prononciation, but you are now a muslim.  Wasn't that fun?  Now go convert your neighbor... trust me it's fun.  Allahu Akbar!...etc.

Same reason Catholacism spread.  Invasions, wars, settlements and general Imperialism.

Islam was spread by the sword.    But it was also adopted originally by people who were fleeing the oppressive, punitive and mercenary Catholic church.   There is  a lot of socially responsible laws in the Koran that appeal to many then and now.  I think people are becoming jaded by our modern western society that is saturated in alcohol, drugs, s*x and immorality.  Some see Islam as a valid alternative because the Christian faith is splintered and seen as hypocritical.  And they really do have a very strong belief system that the West is sadly lacking.
