What are three different points for why we should care for the earths environment?

1.  We live in it, so we are ruining our own house, so to speak.

2.  If we're not careful, we will destroy some interesting parts of it that could have helped us later.

3.  A visiting alien civilization might regard our mismanagement of the environment as a strike against us.

Because it is beautiful and why ruin a beautiful thing?

We live here

We need it. We were born into this place temporarily - we're allowed to benefit from what it offers us yet some people seem to treat it as though we own it... we don't own it... we're merely allowed to use it for the time being and we are certainly not in control of it... it can wipe us out and thrive without us but not vice versa.

We rely on the physical planet for our health - ex. air quality

We rely on the planet for our food, water, and general sustenance

We are spiritually connected (not removed) to Mother Earth and the planet's health affects us in various ways

It is breath-takingly beautiful and preserving this beauty will enable us to continue to enjoy it

Being responsible and considerate of others - some people want to enjoy this planet

Because it allows us to enjoy life - (ex. swimming, hiking, sailing, surfing, skiing, scuba-diving, running, mountain-climbing, canoeing, kayaking, sight-seeing...) so many hobbies and forms of recreation are built around enjoying what this beautiful planet offers us.

Disturbance of Earth may be linked to increases in natural disasters

The planet sustains a whole ecosystem - harming the environment means throwing the ecosystem into imbalance. that can mean anything from extremely unbearable temperatures, poor air quality, problems with pest control, extinction of species (which will inevitably affect us even with the extinction of most obscure animals) - and we want to thrive, not suffer
