  1. I went to Italy........

    It was full of foreigners.

  2. I am always interested in cultures, Italy is very fascinating, the people, their language, their food, their house everything. I liked to hear how fast they speak, all the pasta they have, how they drive scooters, Italian football (soccer for some). I just love cultures, by knowing the differences and uniqueness I learn to understands and respects.

  3. Some people are attracted to Italy because of what they've read or movies they might have seen. They become less attracted when they get there and realise it's just like any country. You take the good with the bad.

  4. Attracted: Personally I like the long Roman History!  My previous life could have been in the Old Rome.  I always enjoy movies about the Romans.  I also visited Italy as a teenager and had a great time exploring Rome and a few other cities.  I went to an amusement park in Rome and had my first small roller coaster ride.  A nice park operator let me play a shooting game for free after I found out that I only had just enough money for the bus fare back to the apartment that we were staying.

Not attracted:  for similar issues such as long and old history and cultures but for the different reason.

I met an Italian who was emigrating to the US.  He said he preferred new and pop culture, big open country and more opportunities.  He felt that moving up the ladder in Italy was still restricted again by the old culture and long tradition.  I recently visited Italy and had a blast.  In Cinque Terre area, young Italians are moving out leaving only the older people home.  So Italians are losing some cultures, etc. especially in smaller towns.  Young people leave in search of more opportunities and excitement in bigger cities similar to many other places around the world.

Things tend to swing back and forth though.  I am sure once the pollution in the big cities are unbearable, people will start to move back to small towns again to seek a better, cleaner and less crowded life.

  5. Italy has produced so much in the realm of culture: music, sculpture, design, literature, painting, science and more that that alone is why people could be attracted. Then, there is the history. Ancient Rome is an amazing subject. Also, the renaissance has left much that we can still examine in present day Italy. I personally find the Italian people attractive. Finally, the food! All that wonderful food! Mama mia!!
