  1. Attitude, some minorities don't want to move forward.  I have worked with kids who have flat out told me to stick the education because they are just going to be mommies. Some think Welfare is their god given right and education is not necessary.  The government can't make people work, but they should be making it very uncomfortable for those who choose not to and take welfare for life.

Some women feel they should be in the home with their kids rather than working, some of them permanently, some of them just until their kids go to school, that is a personal choice, the government can not force people to work.

  2. What does "underrepresented" mean? Do you mean that unless women make up 50% of the members of Congress, they are "underrepresented"? That unless 11% of the members of Congress are black, blacks are "underrepresented"?

The people who represent me are the ones who share my values, not the ones who share my race and/or s*x.

  3. its been like a constant thing where its always the rich white guys who get to rule. so probably just tradition.

  4. The first 3 answers are very good answers.  The 4th answer is a perfect example of an ignorant undereducated individual.

  5. the white man runs the federal government, we all know that they do not like to hire anyone unless they are white males.

EDIT: Patrick, your gpa is around 2.6 and you call me undereducated.

  6. There are many reasons...women even in this day get a bad rap for wanting to move in front of their male counterparts. There is still an unspoken thing about men making more money and doing better than women.

Personally I am a computer technician which is predominately a male profession or had been when I started 13 years ago. I had a great deal of grief proving my skills were on par or better than my male co workers and some responded very well while others were very chauvinistic about it. It is tough out there!

Some people think that white males are starting to become a minority group because of labor laws that state that companies cannot discriminate against minorities.

  7. Simple.  They don't apply for the jobs as much.

  8. Women, historically, have taken more time out of the work force to raise families than their male counterparts.
