  1. There are coin collectors they try to put sets of different series together or sets of coins they are interested in. There are investors who try to make a profit in the short time and that only works with very rare coins and you must have lots of money. There are people that have an accumulation of coins with no rime or reason and no goal to reach. Then there are numismatist who collect sets or maybe singles of historic coins of a certain period of time, country, War or work on the very early coins of their mints. The numismatist not only collects coins but they also know the history behind what they collect and go looking for more. One has to look at all the coins available and see what they like and also feel. Does a Piece of Eight give you a thrill, make you think where it has been? How about a Roman coin from the time of Tiberius, could it have been in the Holy land? It is a great hobby and you get to make most of the rules as to what you collect. It is a fun hobby.

  2. I have about $50 in silver coins  (pre 1965).  Some have value to collectors for their rarity,  most are worth 10 times face value based on current price of silver.

I didn't collect them for their potential resale value, but because it was sort of fun and interesting.

  3. they add up to dollars, they could be worth lots of money one day

  4. Coin collections are pretty cool. At least I think they are. If you collect all 50 state coins made in the same year, you could display them as a sort of "trophy" and it would look cool. If you collect all of the state quarters from Alabama- Wyoming made in 2004, you could buy one of those coin displaying cases designed for quarters. Where to get them I don't know. But it would be a great hobby. Hope this helps!

  5. you need lunch money

  6. look all over your house

  7. as a hedge against economic troubles. Some dates of coins are rare, so are worth alot more than face value.

My grandma said her coins helped get her thru the depression.
