  1. I've never gone to private, but I do go to public school and I'll tell you some benefits:

    -Less expensive (for a fact!)

-The diversity of public schools and the experience itself will prepare for college, where you'll seriously meet ALL kinds of people

-If you're in sports, public schooling is your best option. Scouts come to public schools; my school is one of the most scouted cross country locations

-Did your parents go to public? You could hold that over their heads :) but don't be too smitey about it.

-They're probably afraid public school will corrupt you. It doesn't. If you are a good student, you'll stay that way.

-because of the diversity of public schools, there's no discrimination. not sure if there's any in private, but public embraces all.

anyway, i've run out of reasons, but i hope i've helped!

    Good luck!

  2. Think about the reasons you want to go to public school.  Write them down and have an honest conversation with your parents about it.

Ask them about their concerns and find ways to address them.  Make sure you show yourself to be respectful and responsible.  Ask for a trial period and make sure you know their expectations and that you go above and beyond to meet them.

If your parents decide that they will not send you to public school or even let you try it, make the most of homeschooling.  Think about the parts that aren't serving you well, and do what you can to make changes.

If your parents don't allow you to go to high school this first year, but you remain hardworking and responsible, they may be willing to reexamine their decision or let you try taking classes at a community college

Just a warning - no matter what happens, pitching a fit or acting disrespectful won't get you anywhere.  Be mature about it!

    Good luck!

  3. You're asking the homeschoolers why you should go to public school?  :)

Honestly, why do *you* want to go?  Those are your reasons.  Anything that we can come up with isn't going to be personal to you, therefore your parents will see right through it.  This is one you need to think through and be honest with them about.

You're probably in private school because they care about your education...otherwise, I'm sure they could find something else to do with the thousands they pay each year to have you there.  Why do you think public would be better?  Why do you think it would benefit you more?  These are the things you'll need to present, honestly and openly, in order for them to see your point.

  4. The only reasons would be to save money, better extra curricular activities, and cheaper more accessible drugs, alcohol and cigarettes.

I changed from private to public after junior high. We saved $400 a month and the public school had better clubs, sports and activities. They also had more choices for foreign languages and more challenging classes. I also think that learning from teachers of different religions and backgrounds was a positive experience. The teachers in public school had more real world experience.

  5. If the private school is a religious school then maybe you should consider online schooling or homeschooling. This forum is for homeschooling so I think your asking the wrong group. Public schools only care about testing, money and pumping out work units to fund the government.

  6. Public school  is not good for you

Public schools  are owned by the  Goverment

  7. Well it depends, If I was in your situation, I would start by asking my parents why they don't want me to go to public school, than work around what they said.

I hope it works out for you.

    *remember*

say what you don't like about a private school and what you would like in a public school. also suggest only going for one year to see what its like.
