What are some reasons why someone would have their Drivers License suspended?

I just read in my local newspaper that my brothers vehicle was impounded a month ago and the reasons were no insurance and driving suspended. What would be some reasons why someone would have their DL suspended?

Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are two big ones.

If you have too many tickets or accidents, you have points added to your license, and if you get too many points (depending on state), your licence can be suspended.

If you're asking why someone would voluntarily get their's suspended, I don't know.

Not having insurance is enough to cause the license suspension in NY State!  It could be just that simple.

Driving without insurance will result in automatic suspension of your license.  The DMV will charge you a daily amount for each day you go without insurance.  Non-payment of fines resulting from traffic violations will also result in license suspension.  Your license is restored once the fines are payed.
