What are some reliable cars that get good gas mileage (at least 25 mpg), and cost $2500 or less?

I am a student with $2500 and in the fall I will be traveling a lot for college that is far from my home town. I need something reliable and great on gas. My parents won't lend me money or cosign for me either. I am not able to work unless I can travel an hour each way on a daily basis. I would have to work nights since I attend classes during the day. Where I live, there are not many employment opportunities (especially for night jobs), so traveling is a must.

Look into Honda's get V4 NOT V6 or V8 also stick shift get better  MPG

I picked up a 20 year old BMW that gets over 25 mpg for a  lot less than that...

Try to find a used Dodge Neon. I hear that they get great gas mileage.
