What are some resources to find rental accomodation in Mumbai (Andheri or nearby area) for couple of months?

My parents who live abroad are visiting India for two months this January to March (2008). I need to find a place like an apartment or flat in a middle class neighbourhood for them to live in during that time. Where can I find such listings?

Also, what are hotel rates like if they have to stay in a hotel during that time?

You can check www.mid-day.com go to the classified real estate listings and find a number for an estate agent in Andheri.  There is also magicbricks.com  which you can check.  An estate agent will be the best person to guide you.

Hotel stay for 2 months in Mumbai will be very expensive unless you can negotiate a good rate for long stay.  Try www.hotelsinmumbai.com/; www.indiahotelreview.com/

You would ideally require a Paying Guest accommodation i.e. a room in a flat with attached bathroom and limited cooking facilities.  In good buildings in the Andheri area it would cost you at least 10 to 20K plus deposit.  Even if anyone leases a flat to you for 2-3 months they will still charge a hefty deposit plus the same 10-20K per month depending on location, quality of building etc.

Please make sure that all the documentation is in order as it is not uncommon to be cheated in property matters.

look for local contacts

look for pamphlets & posters in streets(indian style of advertizing)

i would not take a risk....i would allow some if i have any relatives in mumbai to look for a rental flat for the time period and book it..coz it will be cheaper and if in a colony then safer....people in mumbai do give out flats for rents for a time period...i have too stayed in such flats peacefully in bandra, versova etc...though it was booked by my friends there for me....
