  1. The derrenger, the gun that shot Lincoln

  2. 1851 Colt Navy 36 cal which is what a modern 38 really is

    1860 Colt 36 cal

    1862 Pocket Police 36 cal

Colt Root revolvers in .26 and 36 cl

    S&W No 1 .22

a whole lot more but that's all I can think of

  3. That covers a whole lot of time, gun wise. Takes you from cap and ball revovlers to cartridge guns of all kinds.

Colt made a number of differnet model cap and ball in .36 and .44 caliber until they started making cartridge guns in .22, 32, 38, 44, 45 caliber. Just as a guess, I'd say Colt had at least 40 models during those years.

Then you had Remington New Army cap and ball, in both .36 and .44 caliber and they later had cartrdige guns also.

Then Smith and Wesson came along and had many different calibers themselves but their strong point was in cartridge guns.

To come up with a definitive history of all makes and models and calibers, would be impossible here but I am sure you can find much more on the internet about that time frame for handguns.

The .36 caliber cap and ball was not like todays .38 special. It may have been the beginning of that caliber but there is little comparison between the two. Probably the most powerful handgun during that time frame would have been a Colt Walker .44 caliber cap and ball. It was a massive gun and held that title as most powerful for close to 80-90 years until the .357 magnum came along in the 1930's.

  4. My favorite, most wanted gun=.....

    A Colt Navy Revolver

  5. My personal favorite is the Le Mat.  Its a 9 shot revolver which has a cylinder spinning around another barrel which can fire a shortgun clug.
