  1. Applying the mind in time. Even though we got the better opportunity we lost the life of about 2,60,000 due to be Tsunami attack. We got several warning well before Tsunami struck the coast. The major earthquake was sensed 2 hours before Tsunami struck our coast. That day was full moon day.The water flashed in ponds and tanks and became muddy one hour before in the place called Nagappattinam the most affected place. After the earthquake was sensed by my quake alarm for an unusual time of 12 minutes 2 hours before Tsunami struck our coast I have asked the local to T.V people to flash the alert message. But they refused my warning saying that it can be broad casted only if the warning comes from meteorological department only.Being that day was early morning on Sunday no knowledgeable person was available in the local seismic station. Since I am having all the warning equipment both my design and imported in my house I was able to issue the warning. It was not accepted by the T.V.station people.

Geoscience is such a diverse field, a better question would be 'What are some scientific skills geoscientists DON'T utilize?'

First, like any scientist, geoscientists need good math and quantitative reasoning skills, because measurements are at the heart of science. Geoscientists need good spatial reasoning skills too, since we study the earth and many complex relationships amongst its various parts. You have to be able to visualize geologic structures and processes.

Good skills in chemistry and physics are a MUST for a geoscientist. The earth is made of many complex materials that interact in a variety of ways on both large and small scales. You need to know the basics of both of these disciplines in order to make progress.

Geoscientists also need to know at least a little biology. The rocks in the earth contain an amazing fossil record, and the history of life on our planet is an integral part of understanding the earth.

Finally, you need ingenuity and imagination! Sometimes things are not what they seem, and geoscientists (perhaps even more than any other kind of scientist) need to be able to come up with new ideas that explain observations about the earth. Many times, when old ideas seem to not quite fit, the right answer turns out to be something totally wild that no one has ever thought of before!

    Hope this helps.
