There are some useful hints at the link.  In addition to not zooming in and out, don't pan from side to side - it's another good way to make your viewers sick!

Remember Sturgeon's Law - "90% of everything is c**p".  That applies to video footage in spades - if you're planning on making a 5 minute movie, shoot an hour of video.  Conversely, if you've shot 60 mins of video, don't try and make anything longer than 5-6 mins.

Watch professional documentaries - note how they start with relatively long "establishing shots" to give a sense of place and then show usually no more than 2 seconds of film between cuts - and note that they use cuts, not transitions.  Plan to get shots that will allow you to do this.
