  1. really big waves..but u dun havt o wory about a tsunami if u dun live right next to water,.

  2. When the waves start getting heavier!!!!And when all the water is at the back!!!

  3. Some animals will show signs of danger. They might be running toward higher ground or just plain acting skittish. The waves will continue to recede until they take several minutes to come back to the shore. This progression may take several hours or days. Eventually you will probably see a large wave coming near you, but the waves will work their way up to this point. There will probably be a warning, if you're in the US then for sure there will be a warning. You should also pay attention to earthquakes in other areas that could send waves toward your location.

  4. When the water on the beach suddenly flows back out to sea. It will look like the beach grew for a hundred yards or more.Fish will be flopping on the beach. This is because the water on the beach is being sucked under the tsunami and then rolled back up on top of the water. If you see the beach start getting bigger run inland fast.

  5. A tribal gentleman from Andaman islands once said  -  look around you, you will find an unusual change - chaos among birds and animals and running away from water source, may be even a small pond.

    Regards

  6. There's a really big wave moving towards you.

  7. when you see lots of water coming your way..

ok serously, when all the water on beachfront will start moving away from the beach (at least most of the water) and heading towards a biiiiiiiig wave.. put your swimming suits on..

also you hear lots of people running

  8. Suppossedly the beach's shore shifts b/c of the earthquake. i dunno.....

  9. Receding water, large waves that keep on coming, a really bad earthquake.

  10. animals leaving the area as well as reports of a gigantic wave approaching you...

  11. All the water recedes out of the bay followed by a big wave coming in towards you.

  12. the water level rises.

    obviously.

  13. Yes, but not until it's too late for you to evacuate.

The National Weather Service will issue a possible tsunami if an underwater earthquake is detected.

  14. the water will go far out to sea.

there will be a huge wall of water coming towards you and don't do what the people in Indonesia did and just watch it come towards you until it's to late to get out of the way.

  15. There is often no advance warning of an approaching tsunami. However, since earthquakes are often a cause of tsunami, any earthquake occurring near a body of water may generate a tsunami if it occurs at shallow depth, is of moderate or high magnitude, and the water volume and depth is sufficient. In Japan moderate - 4.2 Magnitude earthquakes can generate tsunami which can inundate the area within 15 minutes.

A tsunami cannot be prevented or precisely predicted - even if the right magnitude of an earthquake occurs in the right location. Geologists, Oceanographers and Seismologist analyse each earthquake and based upon many factors may or may not issue a tsunami warning. However, there are some warning signs of an impending tsunami, and there are many systems being developed and in use to reduce the damage from tsunami. One of the most important systems that is used and constantly monitored are bottom pressure sensors. These are anchored and attached to buoys.

The Indian Ocean Tsunami  could affect locations such as Madagascar, Singapore, Somalia, Western Australia and many others. The Boxing Day tsunami killed over 300,000 people with many bodies either being lost to the sea or unidentified. Some unofficial estimates have claimed that approximately 1 million people may have died directly or indirectly solely as a result of the tsunami.

  16. Tsunamis are actually very small swellings of the ocean until they reach shallow water.  Modern tsunami warning systems are designed to detect the passage of this swells using changes in pressure.
